BLASTING AT MISSION GORGE: HOW IT WORKS
As a hard-rock operation, Mission Gorge occasionally uses controlled blasting to break rock into manageable sizes. Blasting is permitted only during designated daytime hours. Neighbors can sign up for blast notifications on our contact page.
STANDARDS WE FOLLOW
Blasting at Mission Gorge follows our internal blasting standards that meet or exceed industry standards, including those recognized by Caltrans and drawn from U.S. Bureau of Mines research on ground vibration and air overpressure. Blast data is recorded and reported for every event.
WHAT’S DIFFERENT ABOUT OUR APPROACH
Since taking over the facility, Vulcan’s blasting engineers have applied modern technologies to improve blast design.
